seems like bizarro world but after recently reading 'Sapiens, a brief history of humankind', the author points how fundamental the human need is to create "shared myths" to not only survive, but thrive. This message keeps coming back after reading articles like these. Are we destined to live in a world based on the promises of the future, no matter how tenuous?

A lot of Silicon Valley is built on exactly that, for better or for worse. There's a surprisingly fine line between genuine optimism and a ponzi scheme, it turns out.
