"the people driving what is happening in both Israel and Gaza insist on mercy for the innocent as much as they do justice for the guilty. "

Absolutely this.

This is the way to use your platform - acknowledging what's happening in the world and offering help. Thank you!

Thank you from Israel, Benn. There are no good guys in this story, just millions of innocent civilians on both sides who are either already suffering, or will be soon.

What I would like people to remember is that you can vehemently disagree with the Israeli government, even find them reprehensible (as I do) and do your best to help end the occupation (as I do), while still condemning the sheer evil that the Hamas militants displayed on Saturday.

Similarly, you can be pro-Israel while still mourning Palestinian civilians who died for no reason other than the quest for power of cruel politicians and religious zealots. If someone can’t hold these two thoughts at the same time (on either side), I would consider checking their humanity.

Very moved by this post, and this comment.

FWIW, this is my effort to sincerely understand even those sides I consider reprehensible.

Thanks for taking the time to mention the nightmare we woke up to a week ago.

I was scrolling through my linkdin/twitter feed and was amazed how data feed continues like nothing happened when I’m down/up here wearing uniforms protecting my country.

Hope this ends soon and terrorism will stop terrorise us for decades to come.
